However, psychologists who complete rigorous training regarding medications may currently prescribe in New Mexico, Louisiana, Illinois, Iowa, Idaho, Puerto Rico, the US Military, and the Indian Health Service. A recent study out of Harvard compared content knowledge between prescribing psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Among these three groups, there was no statistically significant difference between them.
Credentials
In addition to obtaining a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Williams has completed a post-doctoral master’s degree that focuses on psychopharmacology. As a result, she has a technical understanding of psychological diagnosis, the treatment effects and implications of psychotherapy, and the benefits and limitations of psychiatric medications.
